Public Health England has produced updated guidance for care home staff, explaining how PPE should be used to protect residents and staff
The availability and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in care homes has been a contentious issue, particularly in the early weeks of the pandemic. Public Health England has issued updated guidance clarifying safe use during sustained transmission of Covid-19. The updated version includes bespoke advice for those working in settings caring for people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
The guidance has four sections:
- Recommendations on the use of PPE in a range of contexts;
- Frequently asked questions on PPE;
- Use of PPE when caring for people with learning disabilities and/or autism;
- Case scenarios illustrating appropriate use of PPE in practice.
